Ref: J3065   Oil Operations Back Office / Settlements Manager

Sector: Middle & Back Office

Location: London

A global commodity trading company requires an Oil Operations Manager to join its expanding team. To be based in London. To execute oil contracts in the most efficient and cost effective manner all within the terms of each contract.

Responsibilities: -
Direct the execution of oil contracts in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
. Be active in handling a portion of the daily work activities
. Be instrumental in the development of the operations team and all of its members
. Coordinate the daily workload among the team members and to foster a commercial approach in the performing the operational functions
. Lead the development of systems related to the operations function
. Maintain good working relationships with customers, suppliers, storage facilities, inspection and brokerage firms.
Other Duties
- Provide effective communications and be a liaison between Traders, other support groups, and the Operations staff.
- Organize and implement the professional development of each Team member.
- Continuously test procedures/processes to be sure the controls in place are appropriate and effective. Where necessary initiate new procedures to improve the processing of transactions and controls over the execution.
- Initiate the review of IT systems and lead/manage the identification, development, and implementation of new systems

Education and skills: -
Education:
Education in Business / Administration or similar, to degree level OR equivalent work experience

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar operations management position and sound knowledge of above duties are essential. Additional years of experience an advantage.

Working knowledge of trades, contracts, mid-office and accounts – including settlement with expertise in an Operational Analyst role, along with project skills with regard to system functionality and changes required.

Knowledge of EU VAT -rules and regulations- and cash forecasting is also a requirement
